Q1: Can a VFD be retrofitted onto an existing 3-phase electric winch? Yes. In most cases, a VFD panel can be installed on existing 3-phase induction motors, provided the motor insulation is rated for inverter duty (Class F or H) and the mechanical brake wiring is separated from the motor leads.
